The following is a brief tutorial on connecting to Living Well’s webinar room, which uses Blackboard, a Java web-based program.
First go to the participant login URL, which will be posted closer to the webinar date. When you click the link, a webpage like this should load up on your internet browser.
Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the virtual office, and then click the “Join now” button.
A new window will pop up, called “Launching Blackboard Collaborate,” that looks like this:
Depending on the security settings of your browser, a security toolbar may appear that says, for example: To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options.
Select to “Open,” “run,” or “Download File” (depending on your browser it may be worded differently). This will download the Java file that runs the vOffice on your computer.
Again, once the file downloads, you may have another security warning that looks like this:
Click on Allow so that the Java program can run on your computer. When it does load up, you will be presented with the Blackboard Collaborate Virtual Room, as shown below.
You will then be asked to select the connection speed you are using. If you are unsure, stick with the pre-selected option.
You can change the layout of the screen by clicking and dragging the windows/panels to find a setup that works best for you and your monitor.
Set up your Audio options by selecting Tools > Audio > Audio Setup Wizard
