KPMG Report. Review of Queensland Health responses to adult victims of sexual assault, March 2009. Released by Queensland Health October 2009.

The Living Well 'Review of the Review' invited by Queensland Health as part of its consultation process has now been completed and forwarded to Queensland Health.  Copies of the Living Well 'Review of the Review' can now be downloaded.    

Between August and October 2009, Living Well in conjunction with students from the University of Queensland conducted a nation wide survey of current service responses to men who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or sexual assault.  An initial analysis of the data has been completed and a resport created - Service provision for males who have experienced sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse. The intention is for further analysis to be conducted on the gathered information and for it to be utilised to inform improved service delivery and support throughout Australia.

Standards of practice

Queensland

Queensland Government. Response to Sexual Assault: Interagency guidelines for responding to adult victims of sexual assault. These guidelines are designed to improve responses to adult victims of sexual assault by promoting increased interagency cooperation and consultation. They were developed by Queensland Health, the Queensland Police Service, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Department of Families, Office for Women, Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy, Office of the Adult Guardian and Legal Aid Queensland. National

National Association of Services Against Sexual Violence (NASASV) National Standards of Practice Manual for Services Against Sexual Violence (NSPM) Office of the Status of Women, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (1998).
Although the NSPM identified in 1998 a “need for more detailed standards for working with male victim/survivors” that “would need to address some of the unique issues faced by male victims and the implications for practice” this issue has not been followed up on at National level to date.

National framework for the prevention of sexual assault in Australia. Commissioned by the Office of the Status of Women – Department of Prime Minster and Cabinet (2004). This framework was developed to provide a way forward in the prevention of sexual assault in Australia.

Victoria

This manual sets out the required minimum standards for a Victorian Sexual assault Service. It also promotes the delivery of responsive high quality services.
