Sexual abuse or sexual assault of any person is a criminal activity, and the law allows for significant penalties for those found guilty of these offences. Reporting these offences however is dificult for many people who have experienced sexual abuse or sexual assault.  For some people the legal system can seem daunting, and it is not uncommon for people to feel afraid of retaliation if they speak up about the offence. These pages have been created to assist people to consider their options with an understanding of the legal processes involved.

There are also things you can do to help prevent others being abused or assaulted, that do not involve laying charges against the person who perpetrated the abuse.
